How to choose a headshot photographer?  Alexis Shoemaker of Sly Fox Marketing and Promotion explains how to select a professional who will strategically help you build your brand.

“As a professional marketer, I often have to remind my clients that there is a distinct difference between a photographer and a branding specialist,” Shoemaker says.  “A branding specialist understands the high standards that branding photography must meet, so that images can be used on one’s website, printed marketing materials and various social media platforms.”

Shoemaker continues that business photographers create “images that are more than just pictures. They represent your brand.  For instance, a knowledgeable specialist may shoot a hair stylist in their working environment. She or he knows how to style and position the professional so the industry is conveyed as well.”
Perhaps most importantly, Shoemaker explains, brand specialists “communicate with your website and graphic designers, your marketers and your networks,” and that they often “limit other types of photography they offer. For example, Wanda Clayton of Timeless Photography does not offer wedding or family photography as often as other photographers may. Wanda is truly a specialist, not a general photographer. “
